Animation studio Nathan Love delves into the live-action realm for a new spot promoting Dannon’s new Oikos Yogurt Drink.
Created in partnership with agency JWT and production company Black Powder Works, Nathan Love’s lively commercial for Oikos marks the studio’s first fully live-action spot, as well as their first collaboration with director Travis Satten. According to NL Founder/ECD Joe Burrascano, “It’s exciting to see that as the studio continues to expand and grow into new territories, we’re able to attract more and more of the top talent in our industry. Working with Travis on the new Oikos campaign is a testament to that, and we look forward to building on this experience.”
Reflecting the campaign’s tagline, “Be Unstoppably You,” the spot appeals to those living on-the-go who could benefit from Oikos Yogurt Drink. NL and Satten craft a :15 commercial that highlights how the nourishing bottled beverage serves as an ideal accessory for everyone from artists to fitness enthusiasts. “Creating a spot for national broadcast is always a big deal and has unique challenges based on goals for the project,” says Satten. “In this situation, we had 15 seconds to reintroduce the Oikos brand to the public and tell the story in a way that is meaningful and relatable to the viewer.”
While the Dannon Oikos spot signified their first time working together, Satten found a consummate collaborator in Nathan Love throughout the course of the campaign. “It was truly a pleasure to work with Nathan Love on this project,” says the director, who has also helmed spots for the likes of Jeep, Kia and Toyota during his career. “As a studio, they strike the perfect balance of ambitious storytellers and disciplined production team. With their animation background we were able to provide world class pre-vis for the the whole project with robust storyboards and animatics. This process helped both studio, agency and client collaborate on the best way to elevate the concept and tell the story in the most powerful, meaningful way possible.”
